Department of Education lists Maui island schools closed by power outage

The Department of Education has released a list of 14 Maui island schools closed today because of power outages that started around 3 a.m. this morning.

 

Mayor Michael Victorino asked Maui residents to be patient and respectful while Hawaiian Electric Co. crews work to restore power. Maui police officers at directing traffic at intersections where traffic lights are not working.

 

Public schools that are closed today are:

 

West Maui

  • King Kamehameha III Elementary
  • Princess Nahienaena Elementary
  • Lahaina Intermediate
  • Lahainaluna High

Upcountry Maui

  • Haiku Elementary
  • Iao Intermediate
  • Pukalani Elementary
  • Kula Elementary
  • Kalama Intermediate
  • Makawao Elementary
  • King Kekaulike High

Central Maui

  • Pomaikai Elementary
  • Paia Elementary

Wailuku Elementary
