Mayor Victorino announces fresh produce distribution for Lanai on Friday, April 17

Mayor Michael Victorino announced that a produce distribution will take place Friday, April 17, to provide food to people impacted by COVID-19 on Lanai.

Distribution will take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lanai Senior Center, entering from Gay St. 

A hundred bags of fresh produce purchased from local farmers will be available for Lanai residents in need. Bags will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

A hundred additional bags of produce will also be delivered to Lanai kupuna through the Meals on Wheels program. 

“We are so appreciative for the community partners who are helping us provide fresh food to families on Lanai impacted by COVID-19,” Mayor Michael Victorino said.

“A special Mahalo to Councilmember Riki Hokama, Denise Fernandez from the Lanai County Council District Office, Dave Embry and the farmers on Lanai, and Kris Kahihikolo from the Lanai Senior Center.”

Over 2,000 bags of food have been distributed to Maui County residents so far through events Upcountry, in Central Maui, South Maui, and West Maui.
