COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT FOR MAUI COUNTY UNTIL 7 AM TUESDAY

Flood Watch in Effect for Maui County
Road Closures:
  • Piilani Highway near Pahihi Gulch
    • Road signs stating minimal passable near Mile Marker 16 in Ulupalakua and in Hana
  • 1300 block of Kamehamehaiki Road
  • South Kihei Road at North Kihei and Uwapo
  • Kepa Place in Kula is impassable
  • Piilani Highway at Kipahulu
  • Kaonoulu Road closed due to flooding and mud
  • Kekaulike Highway closed except for local traffic

Water:


Water main break in Omaopio, affected areas are Pukalani to Ulupalakua.  DWS requesting water conservation measures by the community.  Monday morning crews will conduct an assessment and repairs will be planned based the assessment.

Power Outages:


Hawaiian Electric is advising its customers who are currently experiencing an outage and any others who may experience one during the night to prepare to remain without power until tomorrow, Monday, when crews can safely assess damages to the system before beginning repair efforts. Currently, outages are being experienced in the Pukalani, Kula, Makawao, and Haiku to Nahiku areas as well as parts of Kihei and pockets of Kahului and Paia. On Molokai, the Maunaloa area is also experiencing an outage. Hana Town is receiving service through a generator, but outlying areas on the Eastside are without power.
MECO is working to restore power to these areas.

County Offices


Maui County offices will be closed Monday, December 6, 2021 due to sever weather conditions.


Park Facilities:


All County Beach parks are closed
Haleakala Park above 8000 feet closed

Report Storm Related Damage

Individuals and businesses are asked to report damages to the County of Maui Emergency Management Agency. This information will ensure that the County of Maui has a complete picture of the scope of damage caused by the flooding. The data collected will allow County officials to determine if our jurisdiction qualifies for any state or federal assistance, as well as to assist with flood plain mapping.
Completion of a Damage Assessment Survey does not constitute an application for assistance.  Affected parties still need to file claims with their Insurance companies.
