All driver licenses expire at 12:00 midnight on the expiration date. You may not drive once your driver’s license has expired.
An expired driver license may be renewed within ninety (90) days after the expiration date. If the 90th day falls on a weekend or holiday, the renewal, which includes payment of the required fees, must take place by the last working day prior to the 90th day. If the renewal is not initiated, or in the case of renewal by mail, the envelope is not postmarked before 12:00 midnight on the 90th day, a reactivation fee of $5.00 for each 30 day period will be assessed in addition to the appropriate driver license fee.
An expired driver license may be reactivated within one year after the expiration date. If the one year period falls on a weekend or holiday, the reactivation, which includes payment of the required fees, must take place by the last working day prior to the one year reactivation period.
If your driver’s license is not reactivated within one year after the expiration date, you will be required to apply for a driver license as a new applicant. Please refer to
Class 3 Instruction Permit.
