Land Use Strategies

Through island-wide land use strategies, Long Range Division develops and implements:
  1. A vision statement for each island’s economy, land use pattern and social environment A managed and directed growth plan supporting the vision and core values established by the community
  2. An action plan setting out programs, projects and regulations needed to implement the vision
  3. A capital improvement element describing regional and other infrastructure systems needed over the planning horizon
  4. A financial element providing sound fiscal policy
  5. An implementation schedule numerically prioritizing specific actions relating to the island-wide strategy
  6. A schedule of status reports provided to decision-makers on implementation progress; and
  7. A series of updated technical plans and studies which would include an aggressive public participation process, socio-economic forecasting, infrastructure, water and public facilities assessment and an environmental resource and hazards constraints inventory
